Former tourism official Hinds dies

FORMER DIRECTOR of the defunct Barbados Board of Tourism Patrick Hinds is dead.

Reports are that Hinds passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday.

Appointed director of the government tourism body in 1979, Hinds served in that position for seven years before he was relievedĀ of his duties in a letter signed by then chairman of the Board, Clevedon MayersĀ in August of 1986.

He had previously served as a tourism specialist with the Caribbean Tourism Research and Development Centre and before that, as a senior economist with the Caribbean Development Bank.

He leaves to mourn his wife Marcia and theirĀ children Fiona, Michele and Ian. (GC)
