NIGHT RACING at the Garrison Savannah is still on the table, but the final decision may very well be left up to UNESCO.
Vice-president of the Barbados Turf Club (BTC), Stephen Walcott, confirmed this during a telephone interview with MIDWEEK SPORT yesterday.
“The town planning firm of Richard Gill Associates Ltd is representing us in this matter, and has been representing us in the application for the lights.
“At first we were refused and then it was referred to Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, who is the minister in charge of town planning, for a hearing on the matter. It was heard before Mr Chester Sue, who then made a recommendation, and we are told now that the matter has to be submitted to the UNESCO World Body Heritage Committee,” he explained. (RA)
