Richards to boost masters cricket

THE Barbados Masters G4S Over-40s Cricket Competition promises to be bigger this year with the addition of three new teams and the advent of a former Test opening batsman.

The 35 overs-a-side tournament, now in its 36th year, will start tomorrow, featuring 35 teams in four zones. The top two teams from each zone will contest the quarter-finals on February 25 with the semi-finals carded for March 5.

At a press conference yesterday, one of the tournament’s organisers, Sam Wilkinson, said that Brereton, fresh from capturing the Division 2 title, will be among the new teams taking part. The other two are Princess Margaret Old Scholars and Mapp Hill.

Wilkinson said that the tournament was growing and had a huge fan base. (MK)
