SHONTE SEALE PLAYED a superb attacking game for defending champions Flow Deacons to score a tough win over Phoenix Security Services Carlton when the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball knockouts continued at Kensington Bond on Saturday.

With veteran Julia Lewis enduring a miserable game, the United States-trained De-Ann Smith came off the bench to join Seale and Danielle Evanson in stopping Carlton 29-27, 25-22, 26-24, 25-20.

Deacons, who struggled at the end of the league season with the sudden departure of setter Sharleen Browne, found a nugget with converted playmaker Lynn-Marie Deane showing tremendous growth and ball control.

Even so, Carlton should have taken the extended first set with six-footer Rhea Bryant, who has converted from netball, showing greater consistency in passing, spiking and blocking than her more experienced teammates.
