KING (GREEN HOUSE) dethroned defending champions Hurley (Yellow House) after a decade-long reign at Wilkie Cumberbatch Primary School’s sports at the National Stadium yesterday.

Despite the intermittent showers throughout the day, the atmosphere was tense as the children battled each other for the top spot. In the end, King emerged victorious with 957.5 points, while Hurley ran second with 927.5 points.

Under-11 Girls Division champion Ashari Brathwaite captured 57.5 points, which also earned her the title of victrix ludorum, while Under-9 Division Boys champion Aiden Moore copped the title of victor ludorum with 53 points.

Williams (Blue House) ran into third place with a total of 871.5 points, while Payne (Red House) took the fourth place with 845.5 points.

In the final events of the day, parents, teachers and students were at the edge of the track cheering on their individual teams during the 4 x 400-metre relay, just before King took their victory lap around the stadium track.

The Under-13 Division champion title was shared by Raquan Clarke of Hurley and Jean-Luc Stoute of Williams, while Annika Morris Buntin captured the Under-9 Girls’ Division title, Shontal Jacobs and Nicholi Cox took the Under-11 Boys title. (RA)
