OPPOSITION LEADER Mia Mottley has conveyed her condolences to the families of the three Vincentian students who died in a vehicular accident here on Sunday in a letter sent today to St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves.
The letter stated in part: “The sudden loss of a life is always traumatic, but it is even more distressing when they are young and had the promise of a full life ahead of them.
“What is even more heart-rending about the untimely loss of Danee, Carianne and Aziza is that they were taken from this world just hours before they were to return home to their families.
“To lose such youthful promise will leave a deep emotional void in the lives of their families and loved ones. It must also be a devastating loss for your country which has now been robbed of the contribution that would have been made in the hospitality and tourism sector by these bright and enthusiastic young ladies”.
Mottley also wished the two other Vincentian students involved in the crash, 18-year-old Darren Renaldo Daniel and Kemelius Boyea, 21, a speedy recovery. She assured Gonsalves that the caring staff at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital where they are warded will do all they can to assist the pair to full recovery.
“Prime Minister, we know that in these moments of loss, words are never enough. . . . The Barbados Labour Party wants you to know that we are praying that the families of these young ladies and the people of St Vincent and the Grenadines will gather strength from their faith in God, knowing that He is ever present,” Mottley concluded.
Danee Horne, 17, Aziza Dennie, 19, and 18-year-old Carianne Padmore died in an accident at Graeme Hall, Christ Church on Sunday. The crash also claimed the life of 23-year-old Barbadian Andre Gittens. (PR/NB)
