THE MILLION-DOLLAR pothole patching programme is continuing on the various highways and by-ways across the island.

Heavy rains halted the work in November last year, but it kicked into high gear on January 10, with Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley visiting several sites to see the work as it was being done.

St Michael got much of the initial work, but the reach has expanded over time. Crews will be working in select districts in St Philip and Christ Church.

An update provided by the ministry has indicated that except for routine maintenance like debushing and weeding, all other programmes at the various depots have been suspended while the road patching is being done.

Private companies C.O Williams, Rayside and Infra Construction have been subcontracted to assist with the programme.

C. O. Williams Construction is doing milling and pavingwork between Brighton and Windsor Plantation, St George; Rayside is completing workat Marley Vale,St Philip, and will soon recommence work on the East Point to Wellhouse project; while Infra Construction expects to complete the work at Josey Hill, St Lucy, in two weeks’ time.
