THE NEW MAN on the job is coming out with all guns blazing.

It may be his first tie in charge, but Davis Cup captain Damien Applewhaite isn’t leaving it to chance, choosing big guns Darian King and Haydn Lewis to play the entire first-round tie against Paraguay.

The decision was announced yesterday ahead of this evening’s start to the opening-round tie at the Rakiura Resort, where Lewis will open up against Ayed Zatar at 3 p.m. before King plays Bruno Britez.

“We’re basically not taking anything for granted. We’re confident that we can walk away from day one with two wins, which will take a little pressure off of the guys for the remaining matches,” said Applewhaite. (JM)
