Community sports need bigger boost

BUSINESSMAN EVERICK EASTMOND is calling for more businesses to get on board and provide sponsorship for events at the community level.

His remarks came during the launch of the inaugural Burger King/Sky Mall National Housing Community Netball Festival at the food court in Sky Mall last Saturday.

“There is no businessperson that can put a business in and among a community, and not be aware of some of the things the community wants. We are representatives of Williams Industries and Sky Mall. In business, charitable donations and giving back in the community come before any recognition of profit,” said Eastmond, operations manager at Sky Mall.

“We need to understand that regardless of if we make a profit or not, we have a responsibility as business people, to ensure that we draw our workers from the people that we expect to come and shop with us, that we have to give back to them even before we think of profit.”
