THE PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL plans to build a juvenile wing to handle the increased referrals of children from as young as eight.
“The Ministry of Health is in discussion with the Sandy Lane Children’s Trust towards their funding the construction of a children’s unit here on the hospital compound,” David Leacock, the hospital’s director, told the SUNDAY SUN.
He said that the charity had committed $2 million towards the cost of the facility.
Discussions were at an advanced stage and officials were awaiting the final go-ahead from the ministry and Cabinet, he said. (MB)
