Private buses cash in on school trips

THERE is a greater demand for private transportation for athletes this year in the absence of service from the Transport Board.

This was the general consensus yesterday from drivers who were shuttling students to the National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships (NAPSAC) at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.

While most drivers declined to give their names, some were happy to offer comments on the situation.

The operator of Rainbow Tours and Taxi said this year they had more requests from schools than they could facilitate.

“We had multiple schools who called us requesting transportation, so we ended up getting some of our friends to help out. We usually facilitate Charles F. Broome and Eden Lodge, but there were a couple other schools that we had to end up passing on,” she said. (RA)
