PRESIDENT OF THE National Union of Public Workers (NUPW), Akanni McDowall, has some advice for embattled Governor of the Central Bank, Dr DeLisle Worrell, related to his recent criticisms of the Public Service.
The trade union official is reminding Worrell, in the wake of statements the governor made recently about low productivity and bad service in the Public Service, of the important role those employees play.
McDowall cited recent remarks Worrell made during a CBC-TV 8 programme, with one statement indicating that a lot of the Public Service was of low productivity, and that there were too many unmannerly public servants.
“The governor’s comments are indeed unfortunate and he would do well to carefully examine the one source of credible and relatively current data on the subject productivity – a customer satisfaction survey conducted by NISE that reveals that many public sector departments scored more favourable results than private sector entities,” McDowall said.
