THE ISLAND’S lone hands-on hospitality training facility is bursting at the seams as more people express an interest in joining the tourism industry.
In fact, said senior tutor in the Food and Beverage Department, Roderick Prescod, the Hospitality Institute of the Barbados Community College is turning away scores of would-be students because the 20-year-old campus at the Hotel PomMarine cannot accommodate the numbers.
Prescod was speaking as members of the Hospitality Institute held an early morning walk from the Bay Street Esplanade to Accra Beach and then back to Bay Street at the weekend.
“There is always a very high interest to the point where, in many instances, the students we take in are but a small number compared to how many would have applied,” he told the DAILY NATION. (HLE)
