Hinds takes nail-biter

THE SILVER HILL Road Tennis Championship went into high gear on Thursday night with a massive crowd turning out at the Silver Hill court to see many of the top guns in action.

The biggest of them all, three-time winner Mark “Venom” Griffith, was clinical in dismissing Justin Cox 21-11, 21-11 in a match where the king seemed keen to test out the new court.

Cox, who hails from St Philip, displayed a level of skill that showed what might have been if he had not gone into exile for the past 15 years. He exploited the uneven bounce of the court and often matched Griffith in moving the ball from corner to corner.
