Homeowners ‘can help process’

PEOPLE WHO OWN housing units through the 20-year programme can speed up the handing over of their conveyances.

Responding to a query on the length of time the process is taking, Minister of Housing Denis Kellman yesterday said people needed to determine how badly they wanted the documentation.

He said the electrical work was the only thing holding up the process and Government was looking to source the $34 million to do it, but added owners could be proactive.

“You can feel free to do your own electrical upgrades. It is your house; it is not NHC’s [National Housing Corporation] house. You going to allow yourself to operate without putting in a proper refrigerator because you are waiting for an electrical upgrade? (YB)
