AN INFLUX OF TOURISTS for cricket has led to increased bookings at hotels across the island.
With more than 7 000 English visitors packing the stands for the final One-Day International between West Indies and England at Kensington Oval yesterday, hotels are reporting high occupancy levels.
“Right across the hotels in Barbados I can say over 90 per cent of the hotels on island are very full and this is due to cricket,” said Omar Carrington, sales and marketing manager of Waves Hotel and Spa, Prospect Bay, St James
“I am not in a position to give you an exact number of guests who are here for cricket but I do know right around the island it is difficult to get rooms at this stage. For this period it is very difficult.” (LK/RA)
