Teacher retires after 41 years

THE ONLY EXAMINATION former teacher Julia Mayers now has to face is retirement.

After 41 years in education, the 61-year-old recently bowed out before colleagues, family and students during a retirement and thanksgiving service held in her honour at the Mount Tabor Moravian Church, St John, yesterday.

Before she became the information technology coordinator at Mount Tabor Primary, she spent many years teaching at the Infants’ level.

She said it was the transition of the hundreds of students who passed through her classroom that brought her joy. (TG)
