Jalon’s day of adventure

STILL BASKING in the thrills of Gold Cup Day, winning jockey Jalon Samuel looks poised to dominate the Garrison Savannah track today.

The Barbados Turf Club will be honouring former employees with a race day rolling off at 2:15 p.m.

Samuel, victorious astride Gold Cup champion Dorsett, and Northern Star two Saturdays ago, has booked seven rides, which should see him open and close the seventh day of the first season in style astride the grey filly Celestial Storm and Daring Adventure.

Of all his bookings, his toughest assignment awaits in Race 4, the George Corbin Handicap for West Indian-bred three-year-olds, where his charge, D’Girlz Dem Sugar, is among five other winners seeking to snap rampaging juvenile Miss Megyn’s beaver-trick attempt. He will have to improve instantly in order to be victorious over the more obvious horses. (LY)
