ENFORCE THE ALREADY instituted ban on music on public service vehicles.
That is the advice of interim chairman of the Association of Public Transport Operator Owners, Morris Lee, to Minister of Transport Michael Lashley, who announced yesterday in the House of Assembly, “all music on PSVs will be banned” in proposed amendments to the Road Traffic Act.
Speaking during yesterday’s debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, Lashley linked students’ conduct to the “subculture” he claimed was being fostered through the kind of music being played on PSVs.
Expressing consternation at the lyrics and abusive language he heard from a passing PSV in which schoolchildren were passengers, Lashley told the House: “We don’t want our children to be exposed to that type of behaviour and I propose in the amendment to the Road Traffic Act, which should be coming in June, that we will ban all music from PSVs.” (GC)
