INDEPENDENT SENATOR Alwin Adams is touting technical and vocational education as a vehicle for economic growth.
He made the observation while debating the Appropriation Bill 2017 in the Senate on Tuesday, and called for greater backing for technical education.
The former secondary school principal said that while the academic achievements had enabled the island to outperform its neighbours, they were not necessarily what would allow the country to compete internationally in a technological age.
He stressed that his sentiments did not mean he was trying to “pull down” academia but rather bringing harmony between the two. (SDB Media)
