Pinelands hold off Hawks

THE CHAMPS are back to their winning ways.

Just not their dominant selves.

Orange 3 Pinelands had to claw their way out of a 15-point hole and then survive two threatening fourth-quarter rallies before eventually holding off the lowly Hawks 100-84 in Thursday’s Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League.

The win was the second in as many games for the reigning kings, who shockingly had their three-game winning streak snapped by Burger King Clapham Bulls last week.

But the Pine have looked anything but impressive since, starting slowly against Pan American International Insurance Warrens before also falling behind early against another bottom feeder.
