Eye test ‘must be free’’

A FINANCING COMPANY has vowed to purchase new eye testing equipment for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) but under one condition — that Barbadians will not be charged for eye tests.

Chief executive officer of Building New Nations (BNN) Holdings, Wendell Inniss, made the announcement beforea full house at the Lions Centennial black tie affair at Hilton Barbados on Saturday night.

Inniss told the DAILY NATION the two pieces of equipment, a Laser Iridex System for adults and a Plusoptix Vision Screening system for children, cost $60 000.

He added the order had already been placed for the equipment, but the purchase had not yet been completed because suppliers were awaiting the QEH’s response to one question. (SDB Media)
