THE BARBADOS LABOUR PARTY (BLP) machinery moved to a war footing on Sunday night as it presented a unified face and officially announced its slate of candidates.

At a gathering held to announce its month of activities and which brought together stalwarts, current parliamentarians, hopefuls, branch secretaries and members of the party, leader Mia Mottley declared the Bees were ready to engage the ruling Democratic Labour Party in a battle of politics.

“As of [yesterday] the Parliament of Barbados dies within 49 weeks. The tape is within sight,” she declared to thunderous applause.

As she introduced each candidate, Mottley outlined their strengths, predicting their wins and even called some giant killers. (HLE)
