Warriors trump Sonics

THE SUPER TEAM looks remarkably ordinary right now.

Justin Pile had a career-best 34 points, spurring a decisive 27-6 second-half rally to lead Hilton Barbados Warriors to Thursday’s shocking 74-63 upset of Urban Vybz St John’s Sonics in the Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League at the Barbados Community College.

It was the third win in four games for the suddenly surging Warriors, who got off to a surprisingly slow start after dropping their first three contests this season.

But they couldn’t have looked any worse than the preseason favourites, particularly in the third quarter where Sonics gave up one layup after another to transform a two-point lead into a 19-point hole.
