Blackbirds dazzle All Stars

NEWBURY ALL STARS’ nightmarish 2016 Division 1 netball debut rolled into the new season when they lost 63-24 to champions UWI Signia Blackbirds in the opening league game on Monday night at the Netball Stadium.

Fresh from repeating as knockout queens last Saturday, Blackbirds blitzed All Stars, who enjoyed their best quarter in the first with eight goals.

However, Newbury’s poor effort across all quarters suggested that losing shooter Khadija Domingo to Pride Of Villa might be the start of an even worse year for the St George unit.

They trailed 8-17, 13-28 and 18-48 at the breaks. (KB)
