LEGISLATION has been drafted to deal with drivers who use false licence plates on their vehicles to commit crimes.

That’s the word from Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley in the wake of a recent spate of robberies.

Lashley said he would be tabling a draft amendment to the Road Traffic Act in the House of Assembly, hopefully by June.

“I’ve always said before that it is too easy in Barbados for someone to go and purchase a car, fill it with gas, get fake number plates put on it and go on the road without the payment of road tax, without being properly registered under the road traffic laws of Barbados,” he told the DAILY NATION in an interview.
