Celebrating Palm Sunday

AS CHRISTIANS PREPARE to mark the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus, several denominations yesterday, at the start of Holy Week, celebrated His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on what has become known as Palm Sunday.

Many churches held processions through districts singing traditional hymns while handing out palm crosses. The palms represent the palm branches the crowd scattered in front of Jesus.

Friends greeted each other and strangers with best wishes for the day across the social media platforms as others reminded the country of Jesus’ grace.

Members of St Andrew’s Parish Church, led by Reverend Allan Jones, gathered at Belleplaine, St Andrew and travelled the winding path to the Anglican church.  (YB/RL)
