Teen: Jail could drive you mad

A WEEKEND BEHIND BARS was enough to make a 16-year-old appreciate his freedom and think twice about a life of crime.

“It was bad, sir, it mek yuh feel like yuh lost yuh freedom . . . . It would send yuh mad,” Kishmar Martin Alfred told Magistrate Douglas Frederick in the District “A” Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Looking over to his friend, Shakeem Donte Shorey, Alfred, of My Lord’s Hill, St Michael, warned him about the place that became his home for the weekend.

“You won’t like it there; it would mek yuh guh mad; that’s why I would keep away from crime,” he continued. (TKS)
