AND THEY’RE OFF.
The athletes, who make up Barbados CARIFTA Games team, left the island last night bound for Willemstad, Curacao, with hopes of returning with more than last year’s 20-medal haul.
Head coach of the 28-member athletics team, Adrian Thorne, was confident the team would stamp their mark on the weekend games.
“Our expections are high. We have a team of youngsters who know what they have to do, and it’s just for them to put it into practice now. We have a very good team,” he said shortly before departing the Grantley Adams International Airport. (RA)
