FASCINATING FILLY Fleurette defeated 11 other juveniles in the 67th Barbados Guineas over 1 570 metres, all seeking glory in the first Jewel of the Barbados Triple Crown yesterday at the Garrison Savannah.

Owned by Luther G. Miller III and his wife, Suzanne, Fleurette, under a confident ride by Rickey Walcott on good to firm going, was able to repel a determined and resolute effort by last time out winner in Oberoi.

Walcott, who won a brace on the card, sent Fleurette immediately to the lead and was surprisingly never challenged for the first half-mile. (LY)
