Barbados have earned a qualifying spot for the Central American and Caribbean Games after Philip Clarke and Kelly brothers, Jesse and Joshua, turned in creditable performances at the Pan Am Elite Road Race over the weekend.

Riding in the Dominican Republic, Clarke and Jesse were beaten at the line in a massive 50-man bunch sprint at the end of the 170k elite race.

Clarke placed 13th and Jesse was 43rd overall after finishing mere split seconds behind Colombian winner Andres Soto, who crossed the line in three hours, 18 minutes and 47 seconds. (JM)
