THE BOYCOTT of yesterday’s Everton Weekes Under-13 final by the Barbados Association of Principals for Public Secondary Schools (BAPPSS) has been described as a disservice to cricket by the Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) director of cricket, Steven Leslie.

The sun was shining brightly, the pitch was prepared, the umpires and the BCA scorers and match management personnel were present and paramedics from the Ambulance Service were at the Empire Club in Bank Hall where spectators, including parents, had assembled.

But the players and team officials from the two schools contesting the final, Christ Church Foundation and Combermere, were absent.

Upset over aspects of the BCA’s 2017 regulations, BAPPSS opted to withdraw the cricketers from the two schools in the final following a meeting at Harrison College on Wednesday. (EZS)
