THE 13 THREE-WHEEL AMBULANCES which were donated to Barbados by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2014 are lying idle and in a state of disrepair.

The tri-ambulettes were supposed to be used for on-the-spot responses.

One was stationed at the National Stadium and another at Kensington Oval, while the others were deployed at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), Psychiatric Hospital, Geriatric Hospital, St Philip District Hospital and the Barbados Defence Force.

However, a source told the DAILY NATION that none were ever used for the transportation or treatment of patients. (MB)
