And whether customers pay the 15 cent per bag deterrent fee is totally up to them, the director of the Future Centre Trust and its public relations officer, Kammie Holder, said yesterday.
His comments came as some retailers get ready to implement the 15 cent per plastic bag deterrent fee from tomorrow, June 1, and on the heels of a donation of more than 4 000 repurposed, reusable paper bags from Rock Hard Cement.
However, a notice published on Page 25A of today’s MIDWEEK NATION says that Massy Stores, Carlton and Emerald City, Popular Discounts and Jordans Supermarkets would not institute the deterrent until August. (HLE)
