THE STRETCH OF Highway 1 from Gibbes to Roadview in St Peter is one of the deadliest areas in Barbados.

Over the years many people have lost their lives as they travelled that route, with a number of theories, from reckless driving to ghosts from a nearby burial ground, being put forward as to why this keeps happening.

It is a part of the bypass route used by buses and minibuses, which have been involved in many of the accidents. However, it is not just minibuses that crash there as there are also instances of people losing control and crashing into utility poles, sometimes with fatal results.

A WEEKEND NATION team that visited the stretch earlier this week were informed a utility pole had just been restored after yet another vehicle had crashed into it, leaving many without power. (CA)
