BARBADIAN OLYMPIC SPRINTER Ramon Gittens will have the distinction of competing against the legendary Usain Bolt in his farewell race in Jamaica at the JN Racers Grand Prix Athletics Meet tomorrow.
According to the provisional start list, the men’s “salute to a legend” 100m field will feature Bolt, fellow Jamaicans Michael Frater, Nesta Carter, Asafa Powell, Jevaughn Minzie and Nickel Ashmeade, along with Gittens and Antiguan Daniel Bailey.
Yohan Blake heads another men’s 100m field, which includes South African world leader Akani Simbine and American Bryce Robinson while world record holder and Olympic 400m champion Wayde Van Niekerk of South Africa is entered for the men’s 200.
Three other Barbadians, hurdler Shane Brathwaite, the versatile Akela Jones and Sada Williams will also be competing at the meet.
American Allyson Felix, Kenya’s David Rudisha, Briton Mo Farah and triple jumper Christian Taylor, whose parents are from Barbados, will also be competing at the meet. (EZS)
