Harewood, Miller shine

UNHERALDED KIZWUNNA MILLER and cricketer Krystal Harewood proved to be the stars when the Touch of Class Women’s Road Tennis Tournament entered the Round of 16 at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Facility, Bush Hall on Wednesday night.

Competing in the B Class, Miller ruled over Kennady King 21-13, 21-9 with a level of play that shocked the large crowd on hand. The younger King had looked in charge in the early exchanges before Miller showed her immense talent, ending the contest with a sow.

Harewood found similar easy prey in the elder Denise Collymore whose stand-and-deliver style proved no match for the mobile Harewood as she advanced to the next round leaving Collymore with a pig in hand 21-11, 21-8.

The expected battle between last year’s losing B finalist, former national footballer Asabi Downey and Maudlyn Blunt disappointed as an injury to Blunt thwarted her hopes of advancing as she went down 15-21, 18-21. (KB)
