NICHOLAS SHEPHERD died in a neighbour’s backyard after being stung by bees earlier today.

The 35-year-old of Marchfield, St Philip, was picking mangoes when he was attacked by the swarm.

Family members told Nation News they believe Shepherd fell from the tree and ran into the neighbour’s backyard. They were not sure if he was allergic to the insects.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

To facilitate the removal of the bee hive from the tree, the roadway between the Wynter Crawford Roundabout and Marchfield main road will be closed between the hours of 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday.

Motorists are advised to use an alternative route during this time.  (Barbados Nation/PR)
