Naysayers ‘don’t bother’ Sinckler

MINISTER OF FINANCE Christopher Sinckler will not be losing any sleep about the pessimists and naysayers who have a problem with his recent budget.

In fact, he stressed he would continue to focus on the job at hand – the recovery of the Barbados economy.

Sinckler was the guest speaker at the weekly Democratic Labour Party’s lunchtime lecture at DLP headquarters yesterday.

He admitted there had been much comment about his May 30 budget and the raft of new and increased taxes, which take effect in less than a week’s time. He even touched on recent calls from Barbados Labour Party general secretary George Payne for his head and former BLP finance minister Owen Arthur’s advice for the island to go to the International Monetary Fund. (HLE)
