A year of pain from prosthetic leg

HYANCITH CLARKE LOST her right leg to diabetes complications two years ago.

And while she has struggled to come to grips with amputation, it has been her inability to properly secure a comfortable prosthesis that has been most hurtful.

The 63-year-old resident of St Martin’s, St Philip, had her right leg amputated just below the knee in 2015 after it became infected.

In an interview at her home, Clarke told the WEEKEND NATION she made the decision to cut the leg after gangrene had spread from her toe to her foot. (RB)
