Rough time for Gems

THE Bajan Gems will meet Northern Ireland today in their final hope to end 15th in the Netball World Youth Cup being played in Gaborone.

The Bajans landed in that position in their final game of the competition after battling with tremendous pride against overwhelming odds, but losing 44-47 to Wales yesterday.

The Gems fought quarters of 11-13, 21-24 and 35-34 with the umpires making many perplexing calls that destroyed Barbados.

While Wales defenders were literally holding the ball as Shonica Wharton attempted to shoot, the European shooters enjoyed a sanitised area from the defence of Shonte Seale and Sade Browne in order to shoot freely. (KB)
