Crime fight on

WITH MORE BARBADIANS feeling under siege from armed thugs there is a need for everyone to help ease the fears about becoming victims.

That’s what some current or retired Bajan law enforcement officers in New York insist was needed to deal with the escalating incidence of gun crimes being frequently recorded here.

Among the suggestions were tougher criminal laws and their aggressive enforcement; the provision of more government “resources” for police officers; and the involvement of the Barbados Defence Force (BDF) in joint patrols.

“Police officers back home need more resources from the government to get the job done,” suggested Ferris Jones, a veteran female detective of the New York Police Department. (TB)
