THE CARIBBEAN EXAMINATION Council is in the process of creating an online learning hub in an effort to make free research material available to the public.

After a media conference today in CXC headquarters, Pine Plantation, St Michael, registrar Glenroy Cumberbatch told NATION ONLINE they had already sent out tenders for content creators.

“This is an activity we are creating to make materials and resources available to all learners, anybody who wants to study a subject, irrespective of their financial ability or access to the [relevant] courses. On the hub, they will have books you can rent or buy as well as eBook subscriptions and lots of free learning material prepared by CXC [as well as] subject reports including videos.

You will have some of everything there,” he said, adding they were working with some of the “main publishers” to ensure material will be available.

However, as the process is still out to tender, there is no timeline as to when the hub will be available. (CA)
