THE BAJAN GEMS will be counting on speed and tactics to survive the group of death in netball at next April’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.

That is the game plan hatched by coach Sandra Bruce-Small following Tuesday’s draws which were televised live.

Barbados are in a group with world number one Australia as well as Jamaica and South Africa, ranked at four and five, respectively.

The other two teams drawn in that zone are also ranked above the 11th seeded Gems with Fiji at seven and Northern Ireland tenth. Northern Ireland were originally drawn in Group B but they would have been the fourth European team in that group so they were moved. (KB)
