Festival hiccups

CANCELLATIONS OF EVENTS and reschedulings have somewhat dampened the excitement of CARIFESTA XIII.

With the dance and music acts having to make adjustments, crowds have been kept waiting for hours for the start of events or even been disappointed when they are cancelled without notice.

The crowd at the Bay Street Esplanade on Monday night did not know that the scheduled start for the CARIFESTA music night was 8 p.m. and not 6 p.m. So they waited and waited, with many making their complaints known to the MIDWEEK NATION about the organisers needing to keep to the printed schedule.

The Haitian band on stage had equipment issues so they didn’t start till late, while the Trinidad steel pan group had transportation issues. Vendors weren’t faring well either, as many in the crowd were contented to just feel and look and not purchase. (NS)
