Ice hockey opportunities

BARBADIAN YOUTH MAY have an opportunity not only to explore a new sport but pursue a career in it.

That’s because the Florida Panthers ice hockey team are on the island and would’ve had a chance to discover hidden talent during yesterday’s coaching clinic at the Icetopia Skating Rink, Wildey.

During a luncheon for the team at Sandy Bay Beach Club on Tuesday, vice-president of the Florida Panthers Broadcasting and Alumni Association Randy Moller, said they would be interacting with them to assess their abilities.

“We are going to experience what level the local youth are at in playing hockey and we are open to be able to offer scholarships and grants in the future. The alumni association, through our foundation, have been able to give out grants and scholarships to local kids so they could be able to play the game of hockey whether it be ice, street hockey or roller hockey and we are looking to expand that, and this is a good opportunity,” Moller said.
