Lashley and Marville shine

REBECCA LASHLEY and Rylan Marville stood out like beacons for Barbados at the 13th Goodwill Swim Meet at the National Aquatic Centre in Guyana last weekend.

After 120 events in the meet, which was restricted to swimmers who had not competed at this year’s CARIFTA Championships as well as those in the Under-11 age groups, Barbados finished in fifth position on 445 points as Trinidad and Tobago, with 1 322 points, dethroned Suriname (1289).

Hosts Guyana (868.5) were third with The Bahamas (805) fourth. St Lucia came sixth with 314.5 points while Grenada managed 20 points for seventh position. 

Lashley won the 15-17 Girls’ 200 Individual Medley in 2:37.16 minutes and the 100 metres breaststroke (1:20.75) for her second gold medal. (EZS)
