CARIFESTA XIII ENDED in spectacular fashion at Kensington Oval last night.

Despite the initial setback due to the passing of Tropical Storm Harvey, which pushed back the opening ceremony and affected some events, the energy exhibited by the regional contingents during their curtain performances spoke loudly that any problems were put behind them.

The closing ceremony attracted thousands and ended on a high note with performances by acts such as 2 Mile Hill, Nikita and Lil Rick.

A highlight of the production was the handing over of the CARIFESTA baton by Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley to his Trinidad and Tobago counterpart, Nyan Gadsby-Dolly, whose country will host the next festival in 2019. (TG)
