Car sales at major dealerships have taken a beating since the National Social Responsibility Levy increased.
In fact, according to sales and marketing manager at McEnearney Quality Inc., Margaret Hoyte, sales for the month of August were significantly down.
McEnearney Quality Inc. is the agent for Mazda, Kia, BMW, Ford and Mini.
In an interview with the SATURDAY SUN, Hoyte admitted that the NSRL – which was increased from two per cent to ten per cent on July 1 – had significantly affected the company’s sales, while increasing the price of cars by between $3 000 and over $20 000.
“Sales are extremely low. So far for the month of August we are nearly 40 per cent below in sales,” she said. (RB)
