HEALTH OFFICIALS are mobilising to help Shirland Murray, the almost 500-pound woman living in Harbour View, Pine, St Michael, but there is still a long way to go.
Neighbour Kira Gill, the most vocal advocate for help for Murray, told the DAILY NATION health inspectors had visited the housing unit on Tuesday.
“They came to treat the house but they couldn’t do that with her still in it. However, I was told she couldn’t be moved into a home without a doctor signing her in,” she said.
Gill added she figured the move would only be temporary until the unit was properly cleaned, but she understood there was a reluctance to admit Murray as she was told the 50-year-old was physically able to take care of herself and there were more deserving people on the waiting list. (CA)
